Volunteering for the Sooke Fine Arts Show
Come and take part
Ever wanted to be part of something big? Do you like: working with your hands? Helping others? Being part of a team? Come and join our fabulous family of volunteers! Through their dedication and commitment, volunteers have made our yearly event a huge success every time. They are integral to the running of the Sooke Fine Arts Show, and we couldn’t do it without them!
Great! How do I Sign Up?
Signing up is easy! The online signup schedule shows what roles and shifts are available; just tick the ones you want, submit your choices, enter your contact information, and you’re done. The system will even send you email reminders. Something come up? No problem – you can cancel or swap your shifts whenever you need to. Just let us know!
Check back here in the Spring of 2021 to help us get ready for our 35th Anniversary Show.
What is involved in volunteering?
Whether you have just a bit of time or want to be involved on a regular basis, there are a number of ways you can help. We welcome individuals who are looking for a volunteer experience or a whole group of people who want to work on a project together.
We have volunteers with all different levels of experience work with us on a variety of projects. There are many ways in which you can contribute your time and wonderful talent, and many opportunities for learning new skills.
Check back here in 2021 for a more detailed description of the different volunteer roles available through July and early August.
Making a difference in your life and the life of your community
Research shows taking part in the arts – whether as an artist, a volunteer or simply as an audience – makes a difference in our quality of life. It builds our society, grows our economies, stimulates our minds and strengthens our self-esteem. The effects are seen across the spectrum: from at-risk youth to isolated seniors, the impacts are powerful and positive. You, as a volunteer, can help push that outward ripple of positive change. The Sooke Fine Arts Show is about friendships and fun, learning and leading, and most importantly about taking pride in our community. What we achieve here is extraordinary, and it’s the volunteers that make it happen.
Check out this 2009 time-lapse video of the show setup, keeping in mind there have been some changes in our processes since that time:
