Volunteering for the Sooke Fine Arts Show
Come & take part
Ever wanted to be part of something big? Do you like: working with your hands? Helping others? Being part of a team? Meeting new people? Come and join our fabulous family of volunteers!
Through their dedication and commitment, volunteers have made our yearly event a huge success every time. They are integral to the running of the Sooke Fine Arts Show, and we couldn’t do it without them! We welcome all ages & experiences.
Great! How do I Sign Up?
Joining is easy! You can add your name to our volunteer mailing list anytime, or you can go straight to signing up for a slot via our online sign-up schedule! The online sign-up system shows the roles and shifts available for this year. Once you select & confirm the shifts that work for you, the system will help keep you on track by sending email reminders. Something come up? No problem – you can cancel or swap your shifts whenever needed.

What is involved in volunteering?
Whether you have just a bit of time or want to be involved on a regular basis, there are a number of ways you can help. We welcome individuals who are looking for a volunteer experience or a whole group of people who want to work on a project together.
We have volunteers with all different levels of experience work with us on a variety of projects. There are many ways in which you can contribute your time and wonderful talent, and many opportunities for learning new skills.
Check back here soon for more detailed descriptions of the different volunteer roles available through July and early August.

Making a difference in your life and the life of your community
Research shows taking part in the arts – whether as an artist, a volunteer or simply as an audience – makes a difference in our quality of life. It builds our society, grows our economies, stimulates our minds and strengthens our self-esteem. The effects are seen across the spectrum: from at-risk youth to isolated seniors, the impacts are powerful and positive. You, as a volunteer, can help push that outward ripple of positive change. The Sooke Fine Arts Show is about friendships and fun, learning and leading, and most importantly about taking pride in our community. What we achieve here is extraordinary, and it’s the volunteers that make it happen.
Check out this 2009 time-lapse video of the show setup, keeping in mind there have been some changes in our processes since that time:
