Submission Guidelines

  • Submission is open to all practicing artists who reside on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands.
  • Work may be in two or three dimensions, in ANY medium.
  • Up to three (3) pieces per artist may be submitted. (Diptychs and triptychs are considered one piece.)
  • Maximum size for 2-D work (including dyptichs and triptychs) is 7.5’ x 7.5’. For 3-D up to a maximum 9’ in height. Artist must be available to help with lifting any heavy or awkward work.
  • Artwork must be original and have been completed in the last 18 months and must not have been shown locally in another major art show.
  • Artwork must be available for sale, at fair market price.
  • Work must be completed and ready for hanging or display (D-rings with screws and securely wired for 2D -screw eyes ok only for small works-, no sawtooth hangers, no V-clips!) in order to be accepted for adjudication. Jurors will assume all work is complete as submitted. Do not bring work for adjudication that has not cured; NO wet paint, plaster, varnish, etc!
  • Hand-generated, digital and photographic prints, engravings, lithographs and etchings will be accepted for adjudication, in limited editions of not more than 25.
  • Computer generated artwork must be entirely original.
  • Reproductions and copies will not be accepted for adjudication.
  • Artwork left after the times allotted for adjudication will be subject to a storage fee.
  • Artists must read and understand the Entry Agreement.
  • Please understand that only 1/4 to 1/3 of the work submitted will be accepted. If you feel you may be unable to accept rejection gracefully, please do not submit your work for jurying.
  • Sooke Fine Arts Society retains the right to remove any artwork from adjudication that may contravene copyright laws. In that event, fees will be refunded.
