Sooke Fine Arts Show VolunteersEver wanted to be part of something bigger than yourself? Do you like working with your hands? Helping others? Being part of a team?

Come and join our fabulous team of volunteers! Through their dedication and commitment, volunteers have made our yearly event a huge success every time. They are integral to the running of the Sooke Fine Arts Show, and we couldn’t do it without them.

Whether you have just a bit of time or want to be involved on a regular basis, there are a number of ways you can help. We welcome individuals who are looking for a volunteer experience or a whole group of people who want to work on a project together.

We have volunteers with all different levels of experience work with us on a variety of projects. From participating in the office, on our setup team, design team, in our gallery gift shop, as security, on our information booth…and so much more. There are many ways in which you can contribute your time and wonderful talent, and many opportunities for learning new skills. Click here for a more detailed description of the different roles available through July and early August.

Signing up is easy! We have an online sign-up system that goes live early April. The online signup schedule shows what roles and shifts are available; just tick the ones you want and you’re done! We’ll even send you email reminders. Something come up? No problem – you can cancel or swap your shifts whenever you need to.

Making a difference in your life and the life of your community

More and more research shows taking part in the arts – whether as an artist, a volunteer or simply as an audience – makes a difference in our quality of life. It builds our society, grows our economies, stimulates our minds and strengthens our self-esteem. The effects can be seen across the spectrum: from at-risk youth to isolated seniors, the impacts are powerful and positive.

You, as a volunteer, can help push that outward ripple of positive change. But the Sooke Fine Arts Show is also about friendships and fun, learning and leading, and most importantly about taking pride in our community. What we achieve here is extraordinary, and it’s the volunteers that make it happen.
